Ather Energy aims to set-up 6500 charging points across the country by 2022.
IIT-Madras incubated electric scooter maker Ather Energy has begun installing its charger infrastructure in Chennai, the second city the six-year-old start-up has selected for business foray after Bengaluru.

Chennai will have 50-55 charging stations by the end of the year. Ather Grid, set up to address the lack of charging infrastructure in the country, has set up 31 charging points: 24 in Bengaluru and 7 in Chennai so far. The fast charging network in Chennai is being offered free of charge till the end of the year, Ather said in a release.
Ather has partnered with cafes, restaurants, technology parks, malls and gyms to set up its infrastructure. In Chennai, the stations are at Forum Vijaya mall, AtWorks and Bikes and Burgers, and other restaurants. Chennai will soon have Ather Space, the eV experience centre; pre-orders in the city begin in June.
