Qualcomm Announces Continuation of Partnership With General Motors

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, today announced at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), has announced its continued collaboration with General Motors (GM). The duo will continue to work on delivering state-of-the-art driving experiences to current and upcoming vehicles.

“As we enter a new era of innovation built on high performance low power compute and AI, we are very pleased to be expanding our decade long partnership with GM (General Motors) to the digital cockpit and ADAS systems. We are extremely proud that our longstanding relationship and work with GM can serve as an example of how Qualcomm Technologies works with leaders in the automotive industry to define the future of smart and connected vehicles,” noted Cristiano Amon, president, Qualcomm Incorporated.

Qualcomm supplying wireless communication solutions for 10+ years

The Qualcomm has been supplying wireless communication solutions for GM’s connected car applications for more than 10 years. As a part of the continuation of collaboration between the two, Qualcomm and General Motors will now start working on digital cockpit solutions as well.

“The companies have also expanded their partnership into high performance compute platforms and are working together on digital cockpit solutions to design new, rich and immersive infotainment experiences,”read Qualcomm’s official statement.

Combining GM’s experience as one of the world’s leading automakers with Qualcomm Technologies’ expanding portfolio of automotive solutions, the companies aim to the deliver safe, intelligent next generation vehicles. As a part of the long-standing relationship, GM plans to continue working with Qualcomm Technologies to power digital cockpit, telematics and advanced driver-assistance systems.

“Qualcomm Technologies’ commitment to the automotive industry has resulted in several of our foundational technologies being introduced into products for connectivity and cockpit applications, and as introduced at CES 2020 today, we are now expanding into the ADAS domain,”added Cristiano Amon.
