The new plants of Xiaomi are spread across four campuses in partnership with Foxconn, Flex and Hipad.
Xiaomi,the China-based smartphone manufacturer has recently announced a new manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu in partnership with Flex Ltd.It will be company’s seventh manufacturing plant in India.
Muralikrishnan B, Chief Operating Officer, Xiaomi India has stated that in line with Xiaomi’s sincere commitment to Make in India, this new association will further drive the company’s localization efforts.
As per official source,Xiaomi will not only be assembling smartphones at the new production plant but will also manufacture Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBAs), which costs up to 50 per cent of the value of the smartphones. The new plants of Xiaomi are spread across four campuses in partnership with Foxconn, Flex and Hipad.
Robust growth
Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi India MD had remarked that Xiaomi’s production capacity has increased from 2 phones per second to 3 phones per second in the country with the start of the new facility.
He also added that Xiaomi now produces television sets, smartphones, power banks, batteries, and chargers in India and aiming to expand into other categories as well.
