Two IT development parks have already been set up in Naihati and Falta, two more are coming up in Sonarpur and Kalyani.
The West Bengal government is planning to expand the electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sector in the state through the establishment of electronics and hardware parks at numerous locations.
As reported by UNI, the State Information Technology and Electronics (IT&E) department recently held a seminar at Webel Bhavan in Salt Lake to carve out plans for the expansion.
The decision on establishment of electronics and hardware parks was taken by the department last year, as part of the state’s IT policy, with the aim of transforming Bangla into a knowledge-driven, technologically-empowered welfare society.
Aims to boost employment opportunities
In addition, the state has plans to increase employment opportunities and promote the State as a preferred investment destination via the IT sector.
Representatives from several electronics manufacturing industry bodies and associations and companies like KOTRA (South Korea), Elma Electronic (Switzerland), Compass, Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) and others attended the seminar, which was chaired by the additional chief secretary of the IT&E department.
As per the report, two IT development parks have already been set up in Naihati and Falta, and two more are coming up in Sonarpur and Kalyani.
