SECI Announces 2.5 GW Solar Projects Tender Under Tranche X

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has floated a new tender for solar projects worth 2.5 GW at the Ultra Mega Renewable Energy Power Park (UMREPP) in Koppal, Karnataka. Applicants, in order to bid for this project, need to make an earnest money deposit (EMD) of Rs 4,00,000 (~$5,289)/MW.

“RfS for 2500 MW ISTS-conencted Solar PV Power Projects at Ultra Mega Renewable Power Park (UMREPP) in Koppal District, Karnataka (ISTS-X) under tariff-based competitive bidding has been issued under the Standard Bidding Guidelines. Project Site has been tentatively identified in Talakal and surrounding villages of Koppal District in Karnataka (details of the Solar Park will be intimated in due course),” read the announcement made by SECI.

Performance bank guarantee (PBG) of Rs 8,00,000 (~$10,576)/MW

The developer, as per the guidelines submitted by SECI, will need to submit a performance bank guarantee (PBG) of Rs 8,00,000 (~$10,576)/MW within 70 days of the issuance of the letter of award (LoA). This can also be done before signing the power purchase agreement (whichever is earlier).

Applicants bidding for the tender should possess a net worth greater than Rs 80,00,000 lakh (~$105,757)/MW of the capacity undertaken at the end of the last financial year. Their annual turnover, at the end of the last financial year, should be Rs 4.14 million (~$54,795)/MW of the quoted capacity.

A single bid ranging between the capacities of 50 MW and 2.5 GW can be made by applicants. Solar projects worth 2.5 GW will be allotted to a single bidder. These solar projects need to be designed for interconnection at the power system stabilizer substation at a voltage level of not less than 66 kV. SECI informed that that last date for submission of application is 29 May 2020
