To promote self-reliance in students and to make their skills future-ready, the government of Uttar Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, recently announced the launch of the Praveen Yojana Scheme. Under the scheme, students of government schools will be trained and taught various skills by the government while they complete their higher education, high school or intermediate education, according to the state government officials. The government scheme has been launched with an aim to help students who for some unforeseen reasons cannot or are not able to continue their studies and education after a senior secondary level or higher secondary education level.
“Students will be given vocational training so that they are job-ready even if they discontinue education after Class 10 or 12. Under this, a free skill development certificate course will be conducted every working day during school hours,” a state government official said.
Director of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, Andra Vamsi said, “Government will give training to the students in 11 different trades. It includes many employable subjects including IT, electronics, beauty and wellness, ODOP, retail and automobile. On completion of the training, students will also be given a certificate.”
According to the Director of Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, Andra Vamsi, a total of 150 schools have been picked up and selected for the “Praveen Yojana” by the department of secondary education in Uttar Pradesh. Two schools are to be selected for each district in the state, in which there will be a higher secondary school for boys and a higher secondary school for girls. For the academic year 2022-23, the government is aiming for the successful completion of training for around 21,000 students. The secondary education department will also select willing students for the government scheme and special classes will be provided for the students, also the training-related costs will be borne by the skills development department.
