The National Thermal Power Corporation has announced that it has successfully commissioned 200 MW out of 250 MW of the first phase of the Ananthapuramu solar photovoltaic (PV) project on April 30th, 2016 in Andhra Pradesh. It was one of the ambitious project of the state and with this commissioning, Andhra Pradesh can gear up for more such projects in the state.
NTPC has said that with this commissioning the total capacity of non conventional energy projects of the corporation has become 310 MW. The total installed capacity of NTPC group has now become 47,178 MW through 18 coal-based, seven gas-based, nine solar renewable, one hydro and nine joint venture (JV) power stations.
The government of India has set a target of completing 100 GW of solar power projects by 2022 and this includes 40 GW of rooftop solar project. There are many states who are coming forward and showing their interest in using solar energy and Andhra Pradesh is one of the frontrunners in this domain.
