Recently appointed Electronics & IT minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar met electronics makers of India and discussed the ways to make India the global hub of electronics manufacturing. Chandrasekhar was included in the Narendra Modi headed cabinet this month only.

The meeting was attended by MeitY’s joint secretary Saurabh Gaur and leaders including Sunil Vachani, executive chairman, Dixon Technologies; Hari Om Rai, chairman, Lava International and Pankaj Mohindroo, chairman, India Cellular & Electronics Association,among others.
The government of India, during the pandemic caused by the outbreak of the Corona Virus from China, has launched a train of schemes that are meant not only to make India Atma Nirbhar in terms of electronics it consumes, but also make India for the world. Experts and electronic industry associations all over the country have mentioned these to be some of the best schemes they have seen in the history of the country.
“We have to attract cutting edge technology and maximum investment in the sectors related to our core competency,” Honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, had said while addressing a webinar on Production Linked Incentives.
The National Policy on Electronics (NPE) 2019 has envisaged electronics production worth $400 billion (approx Rs 26 lakh crore) by 2025. This includes targeted production of one billion handsets by 2025, valued at $190 billion (or Rs 13,00,000 crore).
