Wednesday, August 14, 2013: India’s manufacturing sector is set to take a giant leap, with the government announcing a slew of measures to boost domestic manufacturing. As a result, various companies catering to different sectors such as consumer electronics, telecom equipment, computers and solar energy are gearing up to expand their production facilities in India. With the government promoting the solar sector as well, many solar plants are coming up in the country. Besides these, India is also witnessing the setting up of many testing centres and design houses.

The setting up of new production facilities, solar plants, testing centres and design houses will help in the development of many other sectors like tools and equipment, test and measurement (T&M) devices, surface mount technology (SMT) as well as through-hole machines, components, chemicals and consumables.

SFO Technologies is setting up a automotive component manufacturing facility each in Chennai and Noida. With these two plants, the company plans to enter the automotive components manufacturing sector. The Noida unit will be set up with an initial investment of Rs 200 million and will have a staff strength of 150, which the company plans to increase to 500 in the next three years. Samsung plans to invest over Rs 5000 million to ramp up its mobile production capacity in India. Seeing the growing need and requirement of Indian market, Samsung plans to increase its capacity. Its Noida facility manufactures latest high-end smartphone Samsung Galaxy S4 wherein about 35 to 40 million phones are manufactured annually, including 12 smartphones models such as Galaxy S III. Tejas Networks plans to invest around Rs 17,690 million to build and expand its capabilities in the area of new generation technologies such as 3G and 4G LTE. The company plans to expand its existing capabilities in Bengaluru and Puducherry. Alva Lighting Manufactures: LED lights |
Alva Lighting has set up a new plant at Rudrapur in Uttarakhand to manufacture commercial lighting products under the brand name Alva.
