The Nashik Power Expo 2016, to be held between May 27 to 30, will focus on promoting manufacturing of electronics in the country. This is the second edition of the expo and it is organised by Nashik Industries & Manufacturers’ Association (NIMA).
Companies like Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL), Crompton Greaves Ltd, ABB Ltd, Siemens Ltd etc will be present in the expo and the organisers feel that there will be around 150 exhibitors at the expo. The theme of the expo will to be highlight local manufcaturing of electronic products because India has been lagging behind in it and still 65 per cent of electronics is imported in the country.
Many state governments are setting up new electronic policy guidelines to attract investments in the country and the state of Maharashtra is also doing a lot to encourage electronics manufacturing. The state is also promoting local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in manufacturing electronic goods.
Recently the chief minister of Maharashtra highlighted how his state is trying to woo investments in the electronics sector and they are getting positive response from many corners. EMS giant Foxconn has recently announced their plan to setup a $10 billion manufacturing unit in the state to make Apple iPhones.
