LED bulbs are energy efficient and can save up to 80 per cent of conventional energy. Usage of LED bulbs will also result in conservation of precious natural resources including coal and water. To produce a single unit of electricity, 400 gms of coal and 7.5 litres of water is needed. Also, it results in the emission of dangerous fly ash as well as carbon dioxide.
In order to hold discussions on new technologies in this vastly unexplored segment, Nagpur University is organising a National conference on luminescence and its applications (NCLA 2016) which is going to be focussed on revolutionary LED technology. The conference is going to take place between February 18 – 20 at BSNL’s Regional Telecom Training Centre (RTTC) in Seminary Hills.
As per pro-VC Pramod Yeole, “The event was being held under the aegis of Domestic Efficient Lighting Programme (DELP) launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had described LED bulbs as ‘Prakash Path’ while stressing on conserving energy through its use that will subsequently save the environment,”
The three-day event is going to be take place jointly with Taywade College and is going to encompass the overall scope of luminescence and its diverse scope of applications.
