The recently held ‘Make in India’ Week has seen commitments in all main sectors which include – electronics, textile, defence, infrastructure, agro industries etc.
Among the states, Nagpur is getting promoted by the government and the state for drawing major investments both globally as well as domestically. During the Make in India Week-2016, the state came up as one of the most sought-after destinations after Mumbai, Pune, Nashik and Aurangabad.
Within the state government’s Make in Maharashtra drive, Nagpur is going to be developed as an electronics hub. As per Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis “The Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Highway project will be a game changer as it will not only uplift the farmers in Vidarbha but also bring economic prosperity through development in North Maharashtra and Marathwada.”
The project which will cost Rs 30,000-crore is going to enable road travel between Nagpur and Mumbai possible in eight hours.As per Industry representatives, they feel that Nagpur is well-connected even though it requires rapid growth in infrastructure as well as hospitality.
Moreover, with the boost in the airport infrastructure sector, the Nagpur airport has been listed for further expansion into an international airport aside from Mumbai and Pune.
