Seven Indian states along with Karnataka have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for offering constant power supply under the Uday Scheme of the government. India’s Energy minister, Piyush Goyal spoke at the inaugural event of Elecrama 2016 regarding the options in the electrical industry in India in the coming days.
He added that “The industry needs to ramp up its capacities in transformers, switches and Light-emitting diode (LED) lights among others. A large scale procurement will be initiated by the Central and state governments.”
Mr Goyal also said that the quality of the products needed to be top grade. He stressed that the industry needed to benchmark itself with regards to the best in qualitative and quantitative. The government has set itself a goal to provide electricity to all villages within two years.The MoUs will assist in boosting the financial health of the state electricity boards, he added. The event was attended by over 700 people.
