With India targetting to achieve 100 GW of solar energy implementations by 2022, state governments are revising their targets. The last to join the bandwagon is Karnataka, which has revised its target from 2 GW to 6 GW by the year 2022.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has recently issued guidelines to all states telling them how much operational capacity they need to increase in order for Centre to meet its stipulated target. It has been recently published in PlanetSave that Karnataka has revised its target.
Here it should be noted that Karnataka is well on course to achieve its previous target and the state has already floated tenders worth 1.6 GW under the national solar mission. The state has another six years to achieve the revised target and it is expected that the state will meet the revised targte of 6 GW.
Many states are coming up with numerous solar energy tenders to meet their targets and this in line will help the Centre to meet its objective to making India one of the favoured destinations of solar energy.
