Intel is planning to enter into an alliance with the Odissa government where the company will help in bringing investments in the electronic system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sector. Intel is one of the biggest chip maker globally and it feels that the company can persuade many investors to come in invest in the electronics sector in the state.
Top Intel officials recently had a meeting with the IT Minister of Odissa to discuss how to take this initiative forward. Pranab Prakash Das, IT Minister, Odissa said that he had a productive discussion with Intel officials on how the company can help in bringing more electronics investments in the state.
The Odissa government has rolled out many incentives for the companies who wants to invest in the state. Some of them includes investors with investment exceeding Rs 200 crore and offering employment potential of over 500 would be entitled to 25 per cent investment subsidy on capital investment, subject to a ceiling of Rs 50 crore. Further, if their project is financed by public sector banks, the state government would offer an interest subvention of five per cent, among others. The state IT department has also been renamed as the department of electronics and IT.
