What can be termed as a great innovation, Indian scientists from Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) laboratory in West Bengal has developed a ‘solar tree’ that can light up five homes simultaneously. India has been advocating the need for using solar power in order to not only save electricity but also adopt green energy. This development goes a long way to show the future of the country.
The ‘solar tree’ has the capacity to generate three kilowatts of power and is made out of photovoltaic panels that costs Rs 3 lakh each and also comes with battery backup. This unique initiative was recently inaugurated by Dr. Harshvardhan, union minister for science and technology. The minister feels that such an initiatuve will help the nation to battle pollution.
The ‘solar tree’ looks like any normal tree with branches and tiers and it can be adjusted and placed on rooftops and highways. Moreover, another beauty is that it occupies only four square feet.
According to reports from IANS, it has been learned that two such trees will be deployed in Dr. Harshvardhan after he showed keen interest as asked the CSIR respresentatives to do so.
