Both sides have agreed to create more channels to help firms establish ties and promote trade and investment
The Minister of State Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vietnam’s Minister of Information and Communications (MIC), Nguyen Manh Hung on bilateral cooperation in information technology and electronics.
The signing ceremony took place as part of the ongoing India visit by the National Assembly Chairman, Vuong Dinh Hue, from 15-19 December.
Both sides have agreed to create more channels to help firms establish ties and promote trade and investment.
To further develop the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership, the ministers agreed to jointly study and build a new cooperation framework for the period between now and 2030 towards the establishment of a digital partnership between the two countries.
In 2022, when Vietnam and India celebrate the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic relations, the two sides will organise many joint activities such as a digital partnership forum, as well as seminars and conferences on digital transformation, smart marketing, and information security.
This comes after Minister of State for Electronics and IT Rajeev Chandrasekhar informed in October that the Centre expects the sector to reach around USD 300 billion (about Rs 22.5 lakh crore) by 2024-25.
The government is aiming to make the country a USD 250 billion electronic manufacturing hub in the next five years, as per Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw.
India has recently also held talks with Taiwan to help it achieve its goal of developing the chip making ecosystem in the country and form a free trade pact.
