The Gujarat government is now embarking on the much awaited project of grid-connected rooftop solar power units where residential property owners will be encoraged to install rooftop solar panels. The Union government has been advocating the need to use renewable energy and how India can become one of the top solar energy country globally.
The solar rooftop project is being initiated by the state nodal agency Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA). For the current financial year, the agency has set a target to install 50 MW of solar energy by installing solar rooftops across residential properties in the state.
This project is specifically for those residential property owners who want to connect their solar rooftops to the electricity grids of the state. Till now, more than 150 residential property owners have already submitted their applications to GEDA for the installation of such solar units on their rooftops.
There are many other states who have already started the execution of connecting solar rooftops to electricity grids and this in turn not only helps in generating green energy but also helps in reducing carbon footprints.
