Alps Alpine has entered into a strategic partnership with Sensirion Holding. The aim of the agreement, signed in April 2020, is further expansion of environmental sensor business. The former is a Japan-headquartered electronic components and automotive electronics company while the latter is a sensor development organization.
“We are extremely pleased about this partnership, which will see Alps Alpine and Sensirion working together in the future and supply the humidity and temperature module business. Combining Alps Alpine’s manufacturing capacity with Sensirion’s proven sensor components means we can offer customers highest quality standards and state-of-the-art humidity and temperature sensing,” said Marc von Waldkirch, CEO at Sensirion.
The environmental sensors market, as per a MarketWatch report, was valued at USD$ 1.28 billion in 2018 and is expected to register a CAGR of over 9.25 per cent during the forecast period 2019-2024, to reach a value of USD$ 1.99 billion by 2024.
Growing need for environmental sensing devices
Under the partnership, Sensirion will provide Alps Alpine with its humidity and temperature sensor components, which Alps Alpine will integrate into humidity and temperature sensor modules for home appliances and industrial applications. Both companies intend to extend the cooperation beyond humidity and temperature sensors to encompass a wider range of environmental sensors in the future.

communication technology and expertise in software and system development and other areas of module creation to deliver industry-leading humidity and temperature sensor modules for automotive, major appliance and industrial equipment markets.
