The Prime Minister’s Digital India initiative seems to be paying off as India is seeing immense response from numerous segments. According to cabinet minister of communications & IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad, the country is expected to clock $ 1 trillion from Digital India in the next five years. The minister was presenting the two years achievement of the BJP government where he said, “Digital India will be a $1 trillion economy in the next 5 years.”
In terms of break up as to which vertical will garner how much investment, the minister said, “electronics manufacturing will contribute $400 billion, IT and ITeS will contribute $350 billion and $250 billion will come from the communications sector.”
This is great news for India’s economy as the country is trying hard to reduce electronics imports in the country as India wants to become one of the electronics manufacturing giants globally. The central government’s Make in India initiative is also helping a lot of investments to flow in the country and this has primarily happened in the smartphones domain.
The government also taking various measures to increase the inflow of foreign direct investments (FDIs) in the country but coming up with interesting schemes and policies.
