The PLI Scheme for the Drones and Drone components industry addresses the strategic, tactical and operational uses of this revolutionary technology

E-mobility startup Micelio Mobility has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Drone Federation of India (DFI) to promote indigenous manufacturing and support drone companies by providing them with hardware and software tools required for product development.

Micelio said in a statement that it will bring its experience of deploying such shared infrastructure for the Electric Vehicle sector to DFI’s drone community.

“This collaboration would support companies working right from the component sub-system level, to complete integrated solutions and further facilitate drone start-ups in adopting smarter tools, working with prototypes and building complex products from the ground up in India. This shall help Indian drone companies reduce their dependence on imports & become self-sufficient in terms of components,” the statement further added.

Shreyas Shibulal, Founder and Director, Micelio said, “We foresee tremendous growth and market shifts pertaining to sustainable, smart and innovative mobility solutions in India. Given the continued support of the Govt for the drone industry, this partnership will help in achieving the goal of ‘Make in India’, i.e., transforming companies and start-ups into competitive, sustainable and value-added businesses that can compete on a global level.”

“With the liberalisation of drone rules and launch of the Production Linked Incentive(PLI) Scheme for the drone sector, India is on a path to become one of the largest markets for drones. Collaborations like these shall provide Indian drone companies with the infrastructure support required for designing, and prototyping of drones and components, thus enabling Intellectual Property creation and Indigenous manufacturing within the country.“ said Smit Shah, Director, Drone Federation of India.

The PLI Scheme for the Drones and Drone components industry addresses the strategic, tactical and operational uses of this revolutionary technology. The scheme will be over a period of three years, lead to investments worth ₹ 5,000 Crore, increase in eligible sales of ₹ 1500 crore and create additional employment of about 10,000 jobs.
