Hong Kong based energy company CLP Group is planning to enter the Indian solar market by acquiring projects from Suzlon. The Indian solar market has attracted many multinational companies as the government plans to use solar energy in a big way. According to industry reports CLP India is in talks with the Suzlon Group to purchase their 100 megawatts of PV project.
CLP entered the Indian market in 2002 and it operates in wind, coal and gas plants. But if this deal comes through the company will try and tap the huge potential of solar energy in this country.
There have been numerous instances where a company rather from starting from the scratch, acquires a project from a particular company in order to enter the market. This not only gives them a smooth entry but also ensures that they can start pitching for other projects within that state or other states.
The company entered the wind energy business in the same way and they tasted success in that manner. CLP hopes that it can have a major impact in the solar market in the country.
