Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) would facilitate the development of the solar PV projects in the state.
The state government has revealed plans to develop up to 150MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) based projects coupled with pisciculture in Bihar. These will be set up on the pond where pisciculture is being undertaken, according to a report by TOI.
The state energy department has designated Bihar State Power (Holding) Company Limited (BSPHCL), the company engaged in planning, promoting and developing the power sector in Bihar, to undertake the bidding process for selection of private developers.
It is being reported that the selected developers will ink a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with both North and South Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited. Fish supply continues to be short of demand in the state despite abundant aquatic resources in terms of rivers, lakes, reservoirs, ponds and tanks.
A meeting was held February 15 where some of the stakeholders discussed the draft request for proposal (RFP) for setting up grid-connected solar PV project coupled with pisciculture in the state.
“We have received encouraging response from them for the innovative concept,” said Jitendra Kishore, BSPHCL chief engineer (transmission operation and maintenance). “We are in the process of compiling positive feedbacks from the various stakeholders which would be included in the final RFP,” Kishore told TOI.
Bihar Renewable Energy Development Agency (BREDA) will be providing support to facilitate the development of the solar PV projects in the state.
