India’s finance minister minister and Bain Company had discussed about the Financial Services District in Gujarat
America-based private investment firm Bain Capital is looking to invest more in India. The firm, which invests in both electronic and technology companies (and other verticals too), has already invested about USD 5 billion in Indian companies.
Bain Capital’s Co-Chairman Stephen Pagliuca and Co-Managing Partner John Connaughton met India’ Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman recently. Pagliuca had described the meeting with the minister ‘fantastic’. The minister and Bain Company had discussed about the Financial Services District in Gujarat.
Connaughton also highlighted the kinds of reforms that are going on in India as positive. The Finance Ministry in a tweet mentioned that Connaughton is appreciative about the friendly business atmosphere in India and mentioned that he is upbeat about investment in India. Sitharaman spoke about exploring opportunities in Gift City in Gujarat and other opportunities in infrastructure in India.
India’s finance minister Sitharaman is in the United States on a week-long trip. She is scheduled to attend the annual meet of the World Bank and IMF in Washington. She will also be attending G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) meeting.
