There are plans to install a surface mount technology (SMT) assembly line in the proposed Deogiri Electronics Cluster (DEC). A report by the Lokmat, quoting DEC Chairman Suresh Todkar, notes that the facility might be kept open for small entrepreneurs.
It is to be noted here that Aurangbad had got the project approval in the year 2017 itself. The central government is providing a corpus of Rs 20.58 crore while the state government is investing rs 2.72 crore from its end. Additionally local entrepreneurs have raised Rs 5.28 crore to invest into the project.
Todkar noted that the building of the cluster is ready and they are in the process of ordering machines. He is hopeful that the cluster will start operations by the end of March next year.
DEC, as per the Lokmat report, is of view that this cluster will facilitate manufacturing of consumer electronics, LED lamps, biomedical instruments, domestic appliances as well as parts and components needed by the railway and defence sector.
Currently, a lot of PCBs used in India, are imported from other nations. The government of idnia has been trying to develop a ecosystem of electronics and component manufacturing in the country.
