With the success of the ‘Make in India’ programme, the country is witnessing a tremendous upsurge in the electronics manufacturing domain. This has led to higher precision in product manufacturing, which in turn has resulted in increased innovation in SMT rework stations. SMT manufacturers are using new technologies to ensure better productivity and less manpower on manufacturing floors.

The Indian electronics manufacturing industry is expected to grow exponentially in the coming year with the enormous support offered by the government. This implies substantial growth for domestic SMT players. Today, one of the major challenges in manufacturing is to ensure maximum yields in the shortest possible time, while keeping costs down. Therefore, SMT vendors are coming up with rework stations that ensure zero defects and consume less time to do so. In this article, we feature some of the latest models available in the country.
Purchase decisions: Some key points for buyers to focus on
While purchasing rework stations, a few important aspects need to be evaluated, such as the power or capacity of the control unit that is to be used, to ensure it can support the production capacity expected. The multi-tasking capability of the machine is another feature to pay attention to. Other features such as accuracy and quality of the reworking are also crucial due to their vital role in R&D and repair labs. Proper connectivity of micro tools should also be ensured by the buyer, before making a final purchase call.

Model: BGA-936UA; Manufacturer: Fonton Industrial Co. Ltd |
A fine heating element with 1000W upper hot air injection and ultra large IR bottom heating system ensures that the 936UA offers efficiency in soldering and desoldering. A versatile clamper has been specially designed for various PCBs, from those meant for mobile phones to others in the server field. The use of the new fuzzy industrial microprocessor and the aviation-grade industrial precision linear mechanism ensures more accurate and reliable results. A precise, clear and different coloured alignment system, as well as a user-friendly design with an integrated operation interface simplifies work for operators. There is no need for extra equipment or air supply, since the AC power itself is sufficient.

Model: Ersa HR 600/2; Manufacturer: Kurtz Ersa |
The core competencies of this universal rework system are the placement of components, their lifting off and their controlled setting down, as well as the soldering process. All operations can be controlled in a step-by-step mode by the operator, or they can be combined to work in automated mode, requiring very few interventions by the operator. Illumination is available for process monitoring and documentation. Placement of the components is a largely automatic process; the integrated image processing software assesses the images generated by the two cameras installed. The required component position is automatically calculated, and the component is placed, independent of an operator, using a vacuum pipette mounted on an axis system.
