350 EV Charging Stations Have Become Functional Under FAME India Scheme

The Department of Heavy Industries had sanctioned 2636 charging stations in 62 cities across 24 States/UTs under FAME India scheme phase II

350 electric vehicles charging stations have become operational under the Centre’s Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME) India Scheme which is aimed at promoting the adoption of electric mobility in India.

The Parliament informed that charging stations were set in various cities across the country– 48 in Chandigarh, 94 in Delhi, 49 in Jaipur, 29 in Ranchi, 10 in Agra, among others.

Minister of State for Heavy Industries Krishan Pal Gurjar said that since the implementation of FAME India Scheme’s Phase I from April 2015, a total of 3.61 lakh electric vehicles were incentivised to the tune of about Rs 600 crore till July 9, 2021.

“Phase-II of FAME India Scheme is being implemented for a period of 5 years w.e.f. April 1, 2019, with total budgetary support of Rs 10,000 crore,” he said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

This phase focuses on supporting electrification of public and shared transportation and aims to support, through subsidies, he said.
