Flex employs more than 5000 people in all of its India offices, the highest number in any country.
Global supply chain and manufacturing solutions provider Flex opened its third Global Business Services centre in Coimbatore. Flex has two other facilities in Pune and Chennai.
Located at the KGISL IT Park special economic zone (SEZ) in Saravanampatti, the facility has a capacity of around 800-1000 people across shifts. Like other Flex GBS centres, this facility will provide services in support of the company’s global operations in the areas of procurement and supply chain, finance, engineering & quality, program management, IT, HR and others.
Vice president and general manager at Flex GBS India Ashutosh Arora, underlined the importance of the Coimbatore facility in Flex’s growth in India. “Coimbatore provides the right building blocks – a skilled talent pool, excellent support from the government and good infrastructure. We are looking forward to further enhancing Flex’s culture of innovation, diversity and meeting customer commitments,” he explained.
Senior vice-president of operations at Flex, Balroop Grewal said that the new GBS facility at Coimbatore would work cohesively with GBS Chennai and Pune to further advance the value it could provide to Flex.
“Our Global Business Services and Solutions has evolved to be an integral part of Flex operations with resilient business continuity capabilities. Our GBS teams will provide continued focus on enhancing and optimizing our end-to-end processes, providing actionable insights to our 100+ sites across the globe, including business leaders,” he added.
An important supplier to Apple, Flex has been operating in India since 2001 and has the largest number of employees, over 5,000 employees, in the country. In addition to the three GBS facilities, Flex operates two manufacturing facilities in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu and two Global Services and Solutions facilities in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
