“We Are Looking For Different Layers Of Channel Partners In India”

To meet the strong demand of printers and MFP in the market, Taiwan’s Avision has dedicated itself to the development of laser printers and MFP for more than a decade. EFY spoke to Vishal Sharma, Director of AVISION India Team, to know more about the company’s renowned products, their vision for the future and how India can be a part of it.


Q. Since when is your firm in business?

A. Avision was established in Hsinchu, Taiwan, ROC in April, 1991 by a group of engineers with engineering experience in imaging processing technology.

Q. Can you share some details about its leadership team?

A. Avision is headed by Chairman Cheng Shao- Lan followed by President Chou Chung- Li
Avision has nine departments: R&D, Advanced Project Developing Division, Marketing, Administration, Manufacturing, DCC, IT, Engineering, QC- Quality Control.

Q. How do you define your product category(s) to customers?

A. Our product category consists of:
Scanner: Network Scanner, Document scanner, FB scanner, Book scanner & portable/intelligent scanner
Printers: A3 & A4 MFP and printer.
Medical equipment.

Q. What is the USP (unique strength) of your products?

A. We think our strong points to be our strong R&D team, good quality assurance, regular invocations in scanning with price sensitive strategies along with the compact size, high speed and better image quality of our products.

Q. Have you been doing business with India? If yes, since when? How has your experience been?

A. Avision has been selling to India since the early 2000s. We also have a team in Delhi which is currently working from home.

We come across many happy users who bought document scanners in the 2000s and want to upgrade to a new version of the A3 scanner. So far, our experience in India has been good and we have learnt a lot of things about the Indian market like its price sensitivity but at same time demand for good quality products innovation is rising.

Q. What are the latest offerings (products or solutions) that you are promoting to Indian customers? Can you share their highlights?

A. Recently, we have introduced new products like Innovative A3 MFD AM series, Standalone document scanners, PaperAir series.

Q. Why do you think this product is the right match for the Indian market?

A. As we all know, businesses, whether government or corporate, prefer to work from home during these COVID times and are looking for smart solutions for them to help them manage their paperwork. So we introduced the PA series for them. For mid-size firms, we are offering scanners with network and WIFI, whereas for high-end scanning, we are offering high end scanners with 90-120 ppm.

Q. Besides B2B Customers, are you also looking for Agents (distributors, channel partners, etc.) in India too? Whom should they contact?

A. Yes, we are looking for different layers of partners in India in which we are focused on ISV/ SI/Channel sales and Smart city project partners.

Q. Who are your ideal B2B customers? Can you share the names of some leading global or Indian customers too?

A. Although the government is our biggest buyer, in the B2B segment we are supplying to Adani, Reliance, Bajaj Allianz, Hero Fin, Walmart, Flipkart, Mantra etc.

Q. What percentage of your annual revenue is for exports (outside Taiwan & Mainland China)?

A. Exports form around 85 percent of our revenue. While we are supplying to almost every country, the major ones are USA, China, Europe, Middle East and Brazil.
