Top 15 UPS system and inverter manufacturers in India

By Richa Chakravarty

Wednesday, April 23, 2014: Despite a power-starved market waiting to be served, the UPS system and inverter market in India has failed to live up to growth expectations in the last financial year (2012-13). As the backup power market grew marginally in 2012-13, so did the stakeholder companies. Here’s an attempt by Electronics Bazaar to bring out the real growth figures of these companies. Some major firms declined to share their revenues, so readers will be unable to ascertain these companies’ financial performance.

It is surprising that many companies, including the giants in this domain, do not file their turnovers with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) on time, or for many years. Some do file their balance sheets, but do not reveal their financial performance. Then there are companies that do not file their entire turnover. Hence, some major companies are not featured in our ranking.

Today, the trend is for companies to have multiple businesses, in different verticals. And these companies file just one consolidated revenue figure, making it difficult to ascertain the turnover of their UPS system and inverter business alone. Barring a few in the list of the 15 companies that have been featured in the ranking, all the companies are in multiple businesses—other than just power backup systems.

The balance sheets have been either procured from the website of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), Government of India, or have been provided by the individual companies. While this survey is by no means comprehensive, it does provide a glimpse into the growth of India’s major UPS system and inverter manufacturers.

Disclaimer: While Electronics Bazaar’s editorial team has taken the utmost care to contact all possible sources to make the list comprehensive, we may have inadvertently left out a few companies. Information contained in the following report has been obtained from sources deemed reliable, and Electronics Bazaar makes no claims with respect to its accuracy.
