Friday, October 01, 2013: With phase III of digitisation of cable TV networks in India completing on September 30 and phase IV nearing its completion by December 31, 2013, about 75 million set-top boxes (STBs) are required, said Supriya Sahu, joint secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. The key factors contributing to this market growth is compulsory digitalisation requirement of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The STB market in India has also been witnessing an increased number of government regulations that favour domestic vendors.
