Friday, October 11, 2013: India’s manufacturing sector is set to take a giant leap, with the government announcing a slew of measures to boost domestic manufacturing. As a result, various companies catering to different sectors such as consumer electronics, telecom equipment, computers and solar energy are gearing up to expand their production facilities in India.
With the government promoting the solar sector as well, many solar plants are coming up in the country. Besides these, India is also witnessing the setting up of many testing centres and design houses.
Who will benefit
The setting up of new production facilities, solar plants, testing centres and design houses will help in the development of many other sectors like tools and equipment, test and measurement (T&M) devices, surface mount technology (SMT) as well as through-hole machines, components, chemicals and consumables.

BHEL’s electronics division in Bengaluru has won a contract from NTPC Ltd worth Rs 960 million to set up a 15MW solar power plant. BHEL will design, manufacture, test, install and commission this grid-interactive plant at Singrauli in Uttar Pradesh. BHEL will also operate and maintain the plant for a year. This new solar power plant will be established near NTPC’s 2000MW thermal power plant and will supply over 23 million units of solar power every year to the Uttar Pradesh grid.
