With the National Manufacturing Policy unveiled, various companies catering to different sectors, such as consumer and industrial electronics, telecom equipment, computers and solar energy, are gearing up to expand their production facilities in India. Once implemented, the policy will unlock the true potential of manufacturing within the country, feel experts.
The mushrooming production facilities will help boost the development of many other sectors like tools and equipment, test and measurement (T&M) devices, surface mount technology (SMT) and through-hole machines, etc.

Smartlink Network Systems plans to expand its manufacturing capabilities by adding more surface mount technology lines in Goa to manufacture smartphones and tablets. Currently, Smartlink manufactures the Digilite brand of computer motherboards and offers the Digisol switching solutions.

MAXX Group

MAXX Group plans to set up two plants on its existing premises in Haridwar by April 2012—one dedicated to the manufacture of Lithium-ion battery cells, and the other to mobile phones, adding up to a proposed investment of Rs 3.20 billion. The premises in Haridwar are spread across 55,741.8 sq m on a 20 acre plot of land. The company expects to appoint 20,000 employees once the local manufacture of mobile phones is in place. This set up will have a production capacity of 300,000 phones a month.

Conergy Energy Systems (India) Pvt Ltd Products manufactured: |
Conergy Energy Systems has opened a new solar PV and solar thermal facility in Bengaluru with an investment of Euro 2 million. By moving to this 5,000 sq m plant, Conergy has increased its annual production capacity from 10 MW to 25 MW for solar PV modules.

Tapan Solar Energy

Tapan Solar Energy has opened a 2,787.09 sq m facility in Rajasthan to manufacture solar crystalline PV modules under the brand name Elecssol. The current capacity of the facility is 20 MW and the company plans to increase this to 40 MW by the end of 2012. Elecssol has already signed agreements with over 200 distributors and as part of its next phase of growth, it is looking to join forces with engineering, procurement and construction companies both overseas and in India.

Hitachi Home and Life Solutions India Ltd (HHLI)

The company has recently opened a new air conditioner manufacturing plant at Kadi near Ahmedabad. The new plant would manufacture commercial air conditioners including large air conditioner chiller plants, ductable air conditioners and telecom air conditioners. The new facility is spread on a plot of 85,000 sq m with approximately 35,000 sq m for the industrial shed.
