As the government prepares to take a final call on the new manufacturing policy floated by the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, India is all set to change its growth strategy and increase its share of manufacturing-driven exports. The policy aims to increase the contribution of manufacturing in the total gross domestic product from the current 16 per cent to 25 per cent by 2022, with the idea of shifting a large proportion of the workforce to manufacturing. India is also expected to attract huge foreign investments, besides encouraging large scale industrial activity.
