Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd

The Mahindra group recently inaugurated an eco-friendly manufacturing plant in Bengaluru. This unit has the capability to produce 30,000 cars a year, but will start production with 6000 vehicles initially. This plant cost Rs 1 billion and will help address the demand for Reva’s NXR electric cars in Europe.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) has commissioned a 5 MW grid connected solar power plant at Shivasamudram near Mandya, Karnataka. This is the single largest solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Karnataka. The plant has been set up by BHEL for the state owned power producer, Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) at a cost of Rs 620 million. The company has set a new record in its solar PV business, by commissioning solar power plants adding up to a capacity of 15 MW in various parts of the country during 2011-12.

Panasonic plans to start manufacturing its B2B products in India soon at its upcoming Jhajjar facility, which is spread over 307,561 sq m (76 acres), one-third of which is allocated for consumer products. With an investment of about US$ 200 million over a period of five years, mass production will start in January 2013.

Shree Ganesh Jewellery House Ltd

Shree Ganesh Jewellery House Ltd (SGJHL) plans to commission a solar power plant of 50 MW capacity in Uttar Pradesh and 75 MW in Bihar by the end of October 2012. The project would be executed by the Alex Group of companies, in which SGJHL holds a majority stake. SGJHL has also recently set up two 25 MW solar power projects in Odisha and Gujarat, and one 5 MW solar power project in Rajasthan.

Luminous Power Technologies

Luminous Power Technologies plans to expand its battery manufacturing capacity. It plans to add two three assembly lines at its existing plant at Gagret in Himachal Pradesh with an investment of Rs 700-1000 million over the next six months.

M&B Switchgears Ltd

Products manufactured:Distribution, power, furnace/rectifier transformers and special purpose transformers

M&B Switchgears Ltd plans to set up a 20 MW solar photovoltaic power plant near Indore. The company plans to invest Rs 2500 million in this project with a 70:30 debt-equity ratio. The implementation of the project is expected to start before March 2013.
