The Consortium of Electronic Industries of Karnataka (CLIK) has tied up with EFY Group for the upcoming India Electronics Week (IEW) 2019, slated from 26th to 28th of February, to promote Karnataka’s ESDM sector and achieve a denser and stronger technology ecosystem.

“In CLIK, we are enabling our members to enhance their activities by setting up of numerous linkages with organisations within and outside the country in terms of not only commercial activities but also technology transfer, upgrade, training and so on”, says Hema Malini, President, CLIK.

CLIK has has set up an ESDM cluster of around 50 members and out of these 15 of them have been already allotted land in Doddaballapur Industrial Estate to set up their plants. CLIK is in the process of setting up a common facility center at this location for the benefit of all our members in the Industry and is in talks with the state Govt for the allocation of the land.

“To the above extent, India Electronics Week, the annual event organised by the Electronics For You team which is a mega show with multiple co-located events including expositions, conferences and seminars fits in very well with CLIK’s objectives specially when held at Bengaluru–the technology capital of India”, adds Malini.

Destination of business investments
One of the fastest growing economies in India, Karnataka has maintained its status in attracting industrial investment and contributes significantly to the India’s revenues through information technology, biotechnology, ESDM, aerospace and other technology sectors. Karnataka’s GDP stands at USD 120 billion and is growing at 7 percent per annum.

“In the past two decades, economic and administrative reforms have transformed Karnataka from being an inward looking state-based economy, into a globalised market-based economy. The state has attracted FDI of USD 24.63 billion (Rs 137,774 crore) during the period of April 2000 to June 2017”, says Malini. The Karnataka ESDM Policy 2017-2022 envisions to take the state further in the race.

The focus on IoT
Internet of Things (I0T) is fast evolving and new use cases are being discovered on how IoT can be leveraged upon to make things smarter across various industries and sectors.

Government of Karnataka, in association with the industry and with the Center of Excellence on IoT (setup in Bengaluru in 2016), is facilitating skilling programmes to encourage students and professionals to take up certified courses in this area. For this purpose, training agencies will be empanelled and relevant courses will be offered. In partnership with NASSCOM, a Centre of Excellence for Internet of Things (IoT) was established in 2016, which is focused on IoT technologies.

The association between CLIK and India Electronics Week is set to take the engagement to a higher level, promising to bring a transformation in the technology and ESDM landscape of the country.
