Heyday Integrated Circuits has been acquired by Allegro MicroSystems, a global leader in sensing and power semiconductor solutions. Heyday’s isolated gate drivers and Allegro’s isolated current sensors enable some of the smallest high-voltage and high-efficiency power systems.
High-voltage gate drivers featuring Power-Thru Technology will be introduced as a result of this acquisition. These compact, fully-integrated isolated gate drivers will enable energy conversion in high-voltage gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) wide-bandgap (WBG) semiconductor designs.
This acquisition aims to enable access to an estimated $2.7 billion high-growth serviceable market. It also offers system designers a solution that can significantly reduce system design time and complexity, while allowing them to take advantage of the total efficiency benefits of WBG switches. Most importantly, it provides smaller, more efficient gate drive solutions for increasingly popular GaN and SiC devices.
