Japanese semiconductor manufacturer Renesas Electronics Corporation announced that it has completed the acquisition of Reality Analytics, Inc. (Reality AI), a provider of embedded AI-related products. With headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, US Reality AI is mainly involved in embedded AI and Tiny Machine Learning (TinyML), especially for non-visual sensing applications in automotive, industrial and commercial products. This strategic move will aim to combine the Reality AI’s inference technologies with Renesas’ MCU and MPU product portfolios.
The main area of focus remains to be the implementation of machine learning and signal processing. This move has expanded the tool suite available to Renesas and enhanced the AI-related applications that combine both hardware and software. Renesas is proceeding with its applications in the delivery of end-point intelligence in an array of IIoT (Industrial IoT), consumer and automotive applications. Renesas also has multiple applications involved with MCU/MPU platforms with machine-learning algorithms and platform development for applications AIoT (Artificial Intelligence of Things).
With the culmination of the acquisition, Reality AI has become an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas. Renesas now possesses a Reality AI team and an AIoT R&D centre of excellence in Maryland, the US as a provider of AIoT solutions, Renesas will meet the needs of customers seeking to implement AI solutions with the expanded global talent network of software engineers. A global provider of microcontrollers, Renesas combines expertise in embedded processing, analogue, power and connectivity to deliver complete semiconductor solutions. These Combinations accelerate the time to market for automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT applications, enabling billions of connected, intelligent devices that enhance the way people work and live.
