The plant at Gurugram has especially kept this point in mind to make batteries that are thoroughly tested
Marking its foray into the lithium battery manufacturing segment, ITP Energy Systems has opened a 100MWh lithium battery manufacturing plant in Gurugram.
In phase 1, the facility will cater to solar segment while development is focused on battery packs for e- mobility which are due for launch in Q3 FY22.
The facility is equipped with state-in-art machinery and testing equipment that is essential for maintaining performance and safety. The facility has also maintained precautions to prevent any fire hazards that are likely to occur, given the fact that lithium is a highly inflammable substance, Chief Operating Officer Ajay Gupta told ElectronicsB2B in an exclusive interaction.
Talking about multiple EVs catching fire in the past month, Gupta added that the plant at Gurugram has especially kept this point in mind to make batteries that are thoroughly tested.
As per Gupta, Most of the fire incidents have occurred because their batteries do not have proper thermal management to function well in the Indian operating conditions. Wakai range has factored in all these aspects from design stage itself takes special note to make sure all our batteries meet this requirement.
B.M. Vaish, Chairman at ITP, said, “Once again, ITP has moved forward by manufacturing lithium batteries to meet the high expectations of their customers. The batteries will be made using the latest technology, a full understanding of the process by a committed and highly disciplined workforce. This will ensure high quality.”
Managing director Anil Batra added, “Energy generation and consumption systems are transforming rapidly, keeping in mind challenges posed by climate change. ITP Energy is an active participant in this process and focuses on providing safe, sustainable, and compact lithium-ion-based batteries for solar, e- mobility, and energy storage applications. ITP’s new advanced manufacturing facility, which will produce the WAKAI range, is an important step in this direction.”
