The government of India has announced a logo designing contest for the recently announced India Semiconductor Mission. The government will be accepting entries till 11.45 PM IST 26 January 2021. The government is also accepting entries for a slogan for India Semiconductor Mission. The entries can be submitted using this link provided by the government (Click Here).
“Design a logo for the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) that will depict the true potential of the mission and will also align with its vision of enabling India to build a vibrant semiconductor and display ecosystem. It should convey India’s emergence as a global hub for electronics manufacturing and design,” read the guidelines of the contest.
A sum of Rs 25,000 has been earmarked (each for slogan and logo contests) for the winning entry whereas the government will also be handing over Rs 10,000 each as first and second consolation prizes. The entries will be judged based on elements of creativity, originality, composition, technical excellence, simplicity, artistic merit, visual impact and how well the theme is communicated through the same.

The program, as per the government, will usher in a new era in electronics manufacturing by providing a globally competitive incentive package to companies in semiconductors and display manufacturing as well as design.
“We are very pleased that Governments of India has come out with a comprehensive and progressive policy addressing Semiconductor Product Design, Manufacturing and Research with INR 76,000 Cr. ($10 Billions) allocation. The focus on Silicon Logic Fab, Display Fab, Compound Semiconductors Fab, packaging, Semiconductor-products-design and Research will help in creating a vibrant and sustainable ecosystem in India leveraging the already existing semiconductor design capabilities,” had said Satya Gupta, Advisor-India Electronics & Semiconductor Association.
As per the notification, the government will provide up to 50 percent of Project cost for two semiconductor and two display fabs in the country. The Application window starts January 1 and will be open for 45 days. Support under the scheme shall be provided on pari-passu basis for a period of six years.
