STL Grabs $100 Million Deals, Appoints Chris Rice as CEO For Access Solutions Business

STL recorded revenues of Rs 1314 crores during the third quarter that ended on 31 December 2020. The same represents a growth of 13 per cent quarter-on-quarter

STL has announced major new deals and extensions to current engagement with leading telcos in the Middle East and Africa region (MEA). The deals worth more than $100 million take STL’s order book to a record high of ~Rs 11,300 Crores. These multi-year, multi-million dollar deals range from optical connectivity solutions to network solutions.

“STL is building solutions to empower its customers in the MEA region for optical connectivity and network software, enabling FTTH and 5G deployments. One large scale deal is with a leading Telco in the UAE to advance its 5G, 4G and FTTx network infrastructure through STL’s Opticonn Solutions, including onshore logistics and warehousing. Another multi-million dollar digital transformation partnership has been formed with the leading telecommunications group in North Africa. This Telco will deploy STL’s digital billing solutions to seven million subscribers across the region. With these deals across the Middle East and Africa, STL has built an Order Book of over $100 million in the region.

Chris Rice as CEO for its Access Solutions Business

The company has also announced the appointment of Christopher Rice as the Chief Executive Officer for its Access Solutions Business. Prior to STL, Rice was associated with AT&T where he delivered on a multi-year technology strategy and vision for both the network and the underlying system’s evolution. He has also led AT&T’s pivot to software-defined networking (SDN), leading the team that built the fundamental automation and platform capabilities to drive this shift. Chris holds an MBA from the University of Central Florida, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, from Virginia Tech, and is a graduate from Rutgers’ wireless information networks laboratory (WINLAB).

“The digital networking space is at an inflection point where open technologies and software-driven infrastructures are becoming increasingly relevant,” said Chris Rice.

He added, ” STL is uniquely positioned to capitalise on this megatrend through its growing access portfolio that supports scale, latency, openness, and agility. Telecom companies require these characteristics across consumer and enterprise networks. I am very excited to lead this business and this impressive team. Together, we will build next-gen solutions to realise the full potential of fibre broadband and 5G. We will deliver these with programmability and at the cost points the industry is demanding,” he added.
