Power Integrations last launch in the InnoSwitch family was in July 2020. It was launched to target automotive EV applications

Power Integrations noted that shipments of the InnoSwitch family of ICs have surpassed one billion units. Launched in 2014, the InnoSwitch family was the first to incorporate Power Integrations’ FluxLink communication technology. The company said that it provides secondary-side control without the need for an optocoupler, resulting in exceptional energy efficiency, reliability and robustness.

“The InnoSwitch family set a new standard in power-conversion technology and hailed a paradigm shift in power-supply design. The expensive, complicated method of combining a primary-side controller and associated MOSFETs with a synchronous rectification controller has given way to a more highly integrated architecture that is simple, elegant, more reliable and more efficient. We are delighted by the market’s response to InnoSwitch ICs and proud to have shipped more than one billion units,” said Power Integrations’ president and CEO Balu Balakrishnan

InnoSwitch ICs, including the InnoSwitch3 family which launched in 2017, support a diverse range of power-supply applications including USB PD chargers, consumer electronics, PCs, displays, servers, appliances, industrial devices and automotive.

Company’s net revenues for the second quarter were $106.8 million, down three percent compared to the prior quarter and up four per cent from the second quarter of 2019. Net income for the second quarter was $13.2 million or $0.44 per diluted share compared to $0.53 per diluted share in the prior quarter and $0.37 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2019. Cash flow from operations for the second quarter was $36.7 million.

Power Integrations last launch in the InnoSwitch family was in July 2020. It was launched to target automotive EV applications, such as traction inverter, OBC (on-board charger), EMS (energy management DC/DC bus converters) and BMS (battery management systems).
