An Air India flight will take off for China today to airlift essential components required by the companies in India. A message to firms awaiting components supply from China was sent last night.

“I received a Whatsapp text from the authorities on the night of 29 March 2020 stating that an Air India airplane will be leaving for Shanghai tomorrow to airlift essential components,” stated an individual on condition of anonymity.

Dealers from other countries

The individual told EFY Group that apart from components sourced from China, several business houses based in China also deal in components manufactured by companies based out of the country. Several reports published by the media had earlier pointed out that the government of India was planning to airlift components from China. It is to be noted here that several smartphone and consumer electronics brands have already halted manufacturing operations in India citing the Coronavirus outbreak.

India needs components for ventilators and other essential devices

Several reports by media have pointed out towards the increased need of ventilators in India. It is to be noted here that the country has registered 1000th Coronavirus case. A recent report by CNBC had pointed out that India needs at least 2.1 ventilators per 10,000 people to effectively combat Coronavirus crisis.

The government has asked several Indian companies to manufacture ventilators on a priority. However, some of the components required to manufacture ventilators are sourced from other countries.
