- Mahle Electric and Nissei will also set up manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu
- Ather also plans to expand to Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai in the coming year
According to a report by Economic Times, Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said that electric vehicle company Ather Energy will set up its two-wheeler factory and battery pack making facility in Hosur along the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. The report also said that the investment by Ather will be around Rs 635 crore and is likely to create 4300 jobs. The facility will have a size of 4 lakh square feet.
As per the report, in September, the Tamil Nadu government had announced deals of nearly Rs 120 crore in the electric vehicle and component manufacturing sector. Mahle Electric and Nissei will also set up manufacturing facilities in Tamil Nadu.
Expand to Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai
The report also said that the Indian subsidiary of Chinese electric vehicle company BYD Group China will also manufacture phone components in Tamil Nadu and it is planning to invest Rs 694 crore for it. Earlier, the company was present in the state’s electronics manufacturing corridor located near Chennai.
Ather has been investing to set up fast-charging infrastructure in Bangalore and Chennai. At the moment, Chennai has 10 fast charging points and more such points are in teh pipeline in the upcoming months. Ather also plans to expand to Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi and Mumbai in the coming year.
