- Many 5G usage segments like those for industries and enterprises will be affected due to this proposal
- ISRO says if transmission capability is not slashed, telecom signals will interfere with its satellites
According to a report by Economic Times, many telecom gear vendors and trade groups have said that limited or no availability of the 26 GHz spectrum may hamper India’s efforts for pushing GDP growth in the medium and long-term.
This will happen because many 5G usage segments like those for industries and enterprises will not be able to perform properly without this band as per the report.
Telecom signals will interfere with its satellites says ISRO
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) under the order from Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has proposed that it wants to slash the transmission capability of mobile base stations operating in the 26 GHz band. If this proposal is accepted, it may badly affect the country’s 5G plans according to some telecom gear vendors and trade groups says the report. ISRO has said that if the transmission capability is not slashed, telecom signals will interfere with its satellites.
