Mahindra Electric is close to finalising partnerships with municipal corporations of multiple cities in alliance with Uber.
Mahindra & Mahindra’s Managing Director Pawan Goenka in a recent media interaction informed that the company is joining hands with Uber for an emission free connectivity across multiple cities. The municipal corporation of all concerned cities are also a part of the ongoing alliance. To this end, the company is going to announce a pilot project this month.
In a recent report, Economic Times stated that Mahindra & Mahindra and Uber had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in 2017 to provide last mile zero emission connectivity in Indian cities. Goenka admitted that the partnership with Uber took longer than what they had anticipated, but said now things are falling in place.
The Cities that will be part of this alliance
Mahindra is in talks with the authorities in Delhi, Hyderabad and Bengaluru amongst other cities to supply and operate electric taxis and three wheelers.
In an interaction with ET, Goenka stated that many state governments have shown interest in the project and are approaching them for setting electric mobility last mile connectivity. As an example, he cited the recently signed MoU with Thane Municipal Corporation.
Mahindra & Mahindra recently won an order for 1,000 electronic Veritos from Bengaluru-based Bhagirathi Travel Solutions. Other notable orders include those from car rental company Zoomcar and Lithium Urban Technologies, an electric cab aggregator in Bengaluru.
