The projects are part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of building 100 gigawatts of solar capacity in the country by 2022.
Recently Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a company of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, issued a tender to build 7.5-gigawatt of solar power projects in the state of Jammu & Kashmir.These projects are part of a larger plan to build 23 gigawatts of solar capacity in these two regions. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announced the plan in November 2018.
It will be set up in three tranches of 2.5 gigawatts each in Kargil and Leh regions.The grid-connected solar PV projects are planned to be established in the Zangla region in Kargil and in the Pang region in Leh.
Scope of work
As per the information,the project developers will be responsible for setting up the projects,the transmission network up to the interconnection point at their own cost. They will be given 54 months (maximum) to get the project running.in this regard,the project developers also have to ink a 35-year power purchase agreement with SECI.
Earlier SECI,had issued a statement that the request for selection (RfS) document for establishing grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) projects of 2.5 GW in the region of Kargil will be issued by December 31, this year.
