Storage solution provider Seagate said the Indian business is growing strongly due to the expansion of data center and telecom services.
Seagate Technology Senior Vice President (Global Sales and Sales Operations) BS Teh said to The Hindu Business Line that there is a surge globally in data creation and consumption – a trend that is helping them grow. He also said that in India too, Seagate is seeing strong growth not only on the consumer side but also enterprise with demand from data centres and telecom service providers.
He added that while the consumer business accounts for a large portion of its Indian operations, it may turn to the enterprise in the next few years. Seagate has released a report – prepared by the research company IDC which says that volume of data created worldwide is expected to grow to 175 Zettabytes (ZB) by 2025 from 33 ZB in 2018.
He explained that after the emergence of 5G, the increased use of technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) will translate into increased demand for real-time data processing and India’s need for data agility.
