Rockwell Automation plans to set up a new lab with a focus on smart manufacturing and product designing to ramp up its Bengaluru centre
Industrial automation company, Rockwell Automation will invest around $ 15 million to develop its Bengaluru centre. It will focus on boosting product and platform designs for its global customers. The firm has been expanding its presence in India since the past year by doubling its staff strength.
“We got a mandate to build up the Bengaluru team further. There are eight labs here. One part of our business attracted the highest number of talents this year,” ET quoted Dilip Sawhney, Managing Director, Rockwell Automation India. He added that Rockwell’s headcount had grown from 10-2- initially to 200 with an increased focus on design for automation platforms.
Partnership with LTTS
Rockwell has partnered with L&T Technology Services to work on a state-of-the-art lab that will focus on internet-of-everything. The lab is aimed at scaling up smart manufacturing and making it available for the local and global customers. The firm expects to get access to interesting use cases through the partnership. The automation firm is also looking at further collaborations with universities to include fresh talent.
It caters to clients like Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota, Ford and many more and its expansion plans aim to further accelerate its business in India. The Bengaluru centre will be hiring around 150-200 engineers with varied skills in the next four-five years. Preference will be given to the ones with experience in core designing for simple to complex platforms. It already has chip designers, hardware analysts and now Rockwell is planning further investments in hiring.
Analysts believe that innovation in industries like utilities, manufacturing, automotive and transportation and logistics will be the potential growth drivers for industrial automation and internet of things.
