Logitech expects that the deal will help the company to break big in the audio-recording industry and bring people’s passion for music to blogging, to life
Swiss computer and mobile accessories manufacturer, Logitech has announced the company’s decision to acquire Blue Microphones, the US-based audio production firm that produces microphones, headphones, recording tools and more for gaming, streaming, podcasting, YouTube, etc, on Monday, July 30. The deal has been made for US$ 117 million in cash.
Logitech eyes to enter the growing market
Logitech CEO, Bracken Darrell stated in an official statement that the company aims that the deal with Blue Microphones will boost its “entry into a growing market,” and provides them with another way to bring the connection between music and blogging, to life.
He added, “Joining with Blue is an adjacent opportunity for us – a new way to grow – with additional synergies related to our existing gaming, PC webcam and audio categories. It’s exciting!”
Strategy to make a mark in the audio-recording industry
Besides the acquisition of Blue Microphones, Logitech also owns other big names in this industry namely Astro Gaming, Jaybird and Ultimate Ears.
The company said that for them, this industry is somewhat a new space. Gamers are already familiar with Logitech G webcams to stream and people are video-calling with their family and friends using the same, on a daily basis. In business too, the company has seen both its audio and video products take a lead in video-meeting at offices. The company said, “Joining up with Blue and their microphone lines is a logical adjacent opportunity with great synergies.”
John Maier, CEO of Blue Microphones, said: “Blue and Logitech have a lot in common. Both companies work at being small, fast and hungry, crafting great products with cutting-edge design and technology. We’re an established leader in the broadcasting space with a strong product portfolio. Logitech has designed at its heart, tech know-how and global reach. Together we can do amazing things.”
